MORBID HISTORY (clip)

Lorrisa touches on Resurrectionists (graverobbers) from the 1800s; the electrical experiments on corpses that inspired Mary Shelley; the notorious Burke/Hare murder case; and Chris Baker, an African American pioneer anatomist who “ruled the dissection room” at the Medical College of Virginia from the 1860s until the 1910s.

“Lorrisa was such a pleasure to work with and her Morbid History show was a huge hit with our patrons! She left us all wanting to get out and explore what lies in a cemetery.”

Kelley McDonnell, Assistant Manager,
Lake County Public Library

LOVE STORIES FROM HISTORY: the Good, the Bad, & the Ugly (clip)

In this portion of her talk, Lorrisa spills the tea on Elizabeth Taylor, from her third husband Mike Todd, to Debbie Reynolds’ hubby Eddie Fisher, to the stormy and passionate saga with Richard Burton. It was standing room only for this fun presentation at Worth Public Library!

What To Expect!

Duration: All presentations are 1 hour, while the art class/demos are up to 2 hours.

Audience: All presentations are designed for ages 10 - seniors. Younger audiences are welcome but will likely be less interested in, for example, the origin story of Arlington National Cemetery.

Tech requirements: Presentations are storytelling/slideshow based and require only your projector, screen (or smart TV), and HDMI input. Presenter brings a MacBookPro laptop. A table and podium are appreciated but we can bring a substitute if needed. Art instruction requires the library to purchase needed supplies.

When you book, I’ll send you: 1) a contract if your library doesn’t have one they prefer, 2) proof of insurance & business W9, 3) recommended reading list for that presentation, 4) brief description of the presentation for your newsletter/social media, 5) promotional graphics for that specific presentation.

  • Originally developed for television, this light-hearted and heartfelt presentation from devoted taphophile (cemetery enthusiast) Lorrisa takes you around the world with spine-tingling true tales and bizarre history that you never learned in history class. No tired or familiar stories allowed—prepare to be surprised!

    Stories include:

Grand Corpse Larceny—how St. Mark’s corpse was smuggled into Venice.

Chicago’s Lincoln Park—the massive Victorian cemetery that still delivers “easter eggs” to unsuspecting contractors.

The Resurrectionists who robbed graves for medical school dissections.

The Smithsonian’s mysterious origins and epic collection of human remains.

The inbred Habsburg Royals and their organs posthumously divided between three crypts.

The medieval Bone Chapel of Sedlac, Czechia, complete with a skull chandelier.

    Battling racism in American graveyards.

How the feds turned Robert’s Lee’s estate into Arlington National Cemetery so he’d never want to return.

  • Award-winning romantic comedy filmmaker Lorrisa Julianus shares true stories to delight and entertain, whether Cupid is your bestie or a frenemy. No humdrum Henry VIII or Napoleon and Josephine here; prepare to be surprised! There’s the happily-ever-after that Cleopatra’s daughter found with an African prince to the dramatic love lives of Picasso, Gertrude Stein, Jonas Salk, Yennenga the Ghanaian warrior princess, and the OG Bennifer, Liz Taylor and Richard Burton. Topped off with a true tale akin to Stephen King joining the Bridgerton writers' room--the saga of notorious Lothario Lord Byron and the jilted scorpio who burned him in effigy. The course of historical love never did run smooth!

  • Since 2007, Lorrisa has entertained hundreds of guests at galas as a graphologist, a.k.a. handwriting analyst. Experience why this intriguing psychological tool is used by the FBI and employers as Lorrisa analyses celebrity handwriting samples throughout the presentation. She’ll share fun stories and detailed insights so you too can explain what the size of your writing says about your ego, what your margins say about your fears, and how the spacing of your letters, words, and lines reflects your relationships. You’ll be as amazed as the skeptical CEOs she turns into believers, as they tell their fellow guests they have to experience it for themselves!

Note: best for adults as handwriting analysis for underage writers with developing personalities isn’t as accurate.

  • What strange coincidences and unsolved murders shaped the world? You’ll be stunned by the stories you never learned in school—like how the sudden death of Genghis Khan’s grandson outside Vienna saved Europe and all of Western civilization. How did the plotted “murder” of Poland contribute to America winning its War of Independence? Was Stalin murdered? And how did one prince’s suicide start the chain reaction that led to World War I, the collapse of four empires, and the 20th century as we know it?

  • Finally! The must-knows without a sales pitch!

Since 2012, C.J. Julianus has traveled the country full-time on behalf of Edelman Financial, Allstate, and Principal to teach everyday people the proven (yet little-understood) ways of building lasting wealth with their investments, so they can retire comfortably and not lose everything on risky trends or missteps. Help your patrons change their futures, just like this knowledge changed C.J. and Lorrisa’s lives.

    He covers such topics as—

Why a 30-year mortgage is better for your financial future than a 15-year.

Why you should never try to time the market.

The role politics should (not) play in your investments.

What does effective diversification look like?

How small investments now add up more than big investments later.

Why you need an estate plan.

How to plan for retirement at any age.

The psychological biases that can derail your financial future.

NOTE: As a registered fiduciary with FINRA and the FCC, Craig is obligated to always speak and advise in the best interests of your patrons—he will make wise recommendations but never profit from them!

  • Developed thanks to a request from Villa Park Public Library! Your patrons will experience three unusual art mediums combined—using alcohol ink markers, to create the illusion of original stained glass designs on clear wine bottles. After patrons insert the LED string light corks, their objet d’art will glow from within. All without the danger, expense, and mess of traditional stained glass creation or alcohol ink. This is instructed and led by internationally displayed gallery artist Lorrisa Julianus, who paints live masterpieces at gala events for guests to enjoy. If desired, she can also explain the history of stained glass while the patrons work on their creations.

NOTE: Lorrisa supplies a list of needed items that can be easily purchased by your library online—clear glass bottles, alcohol markers, and LED cork lights.
